Every year, most people get their annual check up to see if their liver profile, kidney profile, cholesterol profile and so many more are in the right level, people tend to forget that aside from those tests, one should also take into consideration other factors like if the person is sexually active then he or she must also get tested for sexually transmitted infections like Herpes Test for example. If the individual has been sexually active or is still sexually active then letting them have Herpes Testing is a way to check also to check if they are really free from diseases. Herpes is a sexually transmitted infection that could be asymptomatic but at the same time, could still be infectious to those who are exposed to its virus. There are two type of Herpes simplex virus and they are the Herpes simplex virus type 1 and Herpes simplex virus type 2. Type 1 usually manifests in the oral, labial, and facial sites while type 2 usually manifests in the genital areas. Herpes simplex type2 is most commonly acquired during sexual contact that is why getting tested for this virus is very important because if in case the female has the primary infection and she gets pregnant, chances are, the newborn infant could also acquire the virus through in utero, intrapartum (during birth wherein the infant is exposed to an infected birth canal), or postnatally (after birth) and if not detected early, the newborn infant could suffer encephalitis which could lead to mental retardation or even death.
